All too often my good intentions go ignored until it's too late to actually do any acting on them. I have great ideas and dreams of doing projects to help others, but then I get caught up in my own life and forget about challenges others are facing on a daily basis. Of course, one day I remember my plan to actually do something and am filled with guilt over the fact that, once again, I blew it.
Not this time. I'm determined to act. To make some great stuff for other people.
I just read a blog post about Craft Hope and I'm getting on board. The project is to make hats and bags for kiddos who are fighting cancer. And since I have a little boy, my goal is to make at least one hat and one bag for a boy. Unfortunately, boys get a little neglected when it comes to crafty things. It's much easier to embellish a tote or beanie with a flower or a bow or something else girly and sweet, but boy stuff just isn't as "crafty" most of the time. Boys like hats (at least my son does) and boys want a cool bag to carry all their loot and there are boys who fight like crazy to beat cancer, so that's my project. I can't wait to get started.
Here's a link to the Craft Hope site.
And here's a link to the blog where I first read about the project. She has links to some non-knit/crocheted hats at the end of her post.
I'll make sure to take some pictures of my hat and bag (hopefully I can make that plural) to post and keep myself accountable. The deadline is March 12, so there's plenty of time to hop on board too! If you want to join in, leave me a comment telling me you're in. Making stuff is more fun when you do it together anyway.
